About the project
Job Description: Senior Fabrication & Design Engineer (Process Equipment) Position Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fabrication & Design Engineer to lead the engineering, mechanical design, and fabrication oversight of our industrial process vessels. In this role, you will be responsible for bringing equipment from conceptual design and 3D modeling through to workshop fabrication and final certification. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in designing Vessel Tanks, Formulation Vessels, High-Shear Mixers, Gum/Blending Tanks, and High-Pressure Reactor Vessels, ensuring compliance with strict international engineering codes and safety standards. Key Responsibilities Mechanical & Structural Design: Perform full mechanical design of pressure vessels, reactors, and mixing tanks, including shell thickness calculations, nozzle reinforcement, flange ratings, and support structures (legs/skirts). 3D Modeling & Drafting: Create detailed 3D models, General Arrangement (GA) drawings, and fabrication-ready isometric drawings using industry-standard software. Process & Mixing Integration: Design agitation/mixing mechanisms, heating/cooling jackets (limpet, dimple, or half-pipe), and internal components specifically for high-viscosity products (gums, formulations, polymers). Code Compliance: Ensure all designs strictly adhere to relevant codes such as ASME Section VIII (Div 1 & 2), API 650/620, and local regulatory compliance (e.g., CE/PED, OSHA). Material Selection: Select appropriate metallurgy (e.g., SS304, SS316L, Hastelloy, Carbon Steel) based on chemical compatibility, corrosion allowance, and temperature requirements. Fabrication Oversight & QA/QC: Collaborate closely with the workshop floor. Define welding procedures (WPS/PQR), review non-destructive testing (NDT) reports (Radiography, Hydro-testing, Dye Penetrant), and troubleshoot fabrication issues. Estimation & Bill of Materials (BOM): Generate accurate BOMs for raw materials, components, and hardware to support procurement and cost estimation. Required Skills & Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or Production Engineering. Experience: 5+ years of proven experience specifically in the design and fabrication of process equipment (Reactors, Mixers, Vessels). Software Proficiency: * Design/Analysis: PV Elite, COMPRESS, or ANSYS (for Finite Element Analysis / FEA). CAD Modeling: SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor, or AutoCAD. Technical Knowledge: * Deep understanding of ASME Section VIII Division 1 code. Knowledge of sanitary/hygienic design practices (cGMP/3-A standards) for formulation and pharmaceutical vessels is a major plus. Familiarity with various welding processes (TIG, MIG, SAW) and surface finishes (electro-polishing, mechanical polishing). Preferred/Bonus Qualifications Experience with high-pressure, high-temperature (HPHT) reactive systems. Knowledge of fluid dynamics and mixing behavior for high-viscosity substances (gums, pastes). Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) or certified API 510 pressure vessel inspector.
