Haptic Syringe Simulator Development
INR 600–1500
About the project
We are looking for an experienced developer or small team to build a proof-of-concept 1-DOF haptic syringe simulator for anaesthesia training. The goal is to allow a user to push a physical syringe and feel changing resistance as the virtual needle passes through skin, fat, muscle, and finally bone. A simple 3D visualization should display the needle moving through these tissue layers with realistic PBR textures. Scope of Work Hardware Design and build a custom 1-DOF haptic syringe device Select and integrate suitable motor, driver, controller, and sensors Develop firmware for real-time force feedback Ensure smooth, responsive haptic performance Software Develop in Unity (preferred), Unreal Engine, or native C++ Real-time communication between hardware and software Map insertion depth to programmable force feedback Implement editable force curves using a text/configuration file Create a simple calibration interface Graphics Moderate-detail 3D scene Tissue layers: Skin Fat Muscle Bone Realistic PBR textures Needle insertion visualization Deliverables Complete source code Unity/Unreal project (or native C++) Firmware source code CAD files (if applicable) Electronics schematics Bill of Materials (BOM) Motor and sensor specifications Calibration utility Documentation and build instructions Editable force configuration file Timeline Prototype to be completed within 2 weeks. Before Applying Please include: Examples of similar robotics, embedded, haptic, or simulation projects Experience with motors, encoders, sensors, and embedded systems Your preferred development platform (Unity/Unreal/C++) Estimated hardware components you would use Confirmation that you will provide complete source code and documentation Questions to Answer How would you implement the haptic feedback? Which motor and sensing method would you recommend? Have you built any force-feedback or haptic systems before? Can you complete both hardware and software within two weeks? What hardware architecture would you propose for this project?
