## Experienced Unity Developer Needed for Isometric Action RPG / RTS Gameplay Prototype I'm looking for an experienced Unity developer (or someone proficient with another suitable 3D game engine) to help build a gameplay prototype for a new game concept. The objective is to rapidly prototype and playtest core mechanics before moving into full production. This is not a polished game development project. Instead, I want a functional prototype that demonstrates the gameplay systems and allows me to evaluate whether the mechanics are enjoyable and work well together. Placeholder assets are completely acceptable as long as the gameplay is smooth and easy to test. If the collaboration goes well, I expect to continue development through multiple prototype phases that could eventually lead to a larger, long-term project. ### Project Overview The game combines several genres into one gameplay experience: * Isometric action combat * Bullet hell mechanics * RPG progression * RTS-inspired squad control and positioning The goal of this prototype is to determine whether these mechanics complement each other and create enjoyable gameplay. ### Prototype Features **Bullet Hell System** * Modular projectile spawning system * Circular, spiral, cone, and wave attack patterns * Configurable bullet speed, direction, and firing intervals * Easy to expand with additional patterns **Player Controls** * Responsive isometric movement * Mouse aiming and keyboard movement * Testing multiple control schemes to determine what feels best * Smooth movement and aiming **Ally AI & Formation System** * AI-controlled allies that respond to player commands * Move to designated target locations * Maintain formations * Avoid collisions * Dynamic spacing between units * Basic RTS-style formation controls similar to Age of Empires **Enemy AI** * Basic tactical decision-making * Seek cover when appropriate * Position behind stronger allies * Decide whether to group together or spread apart * Simple flanking behavior * Basic target selection and movement logic ### Technical Requirements * Unity is preferred (other engines may be considered) * Target platform: PC * Clean, modular, and well-organized code * Placeholder graphics are acceptable * Systems should be easy to extend for future prototypes * Git version control is preferred ### Nice to Have Experience with: * Bullet hell or shoot-'em-up games * RTS AI or formation systems * Action RPG combat * AI state machines or behavior trees * Gameplay prototyping * Procedural gameplay systems ### Please Include * Portfolio showcasing similar projects * Relevant Unity or game development experience * Examples of AI systems, combat mechanics, or gameplay prototypes you've built * Estimated timeline for the first prototype * Hourly rate or fixed-price estimate I'm looking for someone who enjoys rapid gameplay prototyping and iterative development.
