Website Development Brief Budget: £3,500–£5,500 GBP Project Overview I am producing a branded series of children’s books and now want to transfer these stories into an engaging online experience. The printed titles will continue to be sold through traditional channels. The books are written for children aged 3 to 6 and are designed for parents to read aloud, creating a shared storytelling experience around animal life. After reviewing feedback from the initial bid, I feel that a mobile-phone reading experience would not replicate the shared bedtime experience of a parent reading a printed story. The website will therefore be designed as a different type of digital experience, tailored to the devices families use for online activities. Website Concept The website front page should follow the same visual concept as the front cover of the published books. It will include three round tabs superimposed on the page, leading to the main website activities. Website Activities Tab 1: How the Cub Bear Was Made This section will show how the illustrator sketched, coloured, and created 3D models of the cub bear. It should be presented as a clear, descriptive process supported by three short videos: • Sketching the cub: 60–90 seconds • Colouring the cub: 90–120 seconds • Cub in 3D: 2–3 minutes There should also be a page about the illustrator, her skills, and the applications used to create the cub bear. This section should show children the magical process of creativity, while also demonstrating that this type of artwork can be created using modern, affordable, and accessible applications. Tab 2: BearmindfulStory This section will provide a visual and audio story experience in three parts: 1. The start of the story: a video showing illustrations from the first three pages of the published book. 2. The middle of the story: an audio e-story. 3. The end of the story: a video showing the final three illustrations from the published book. The story should be controlled through simple start and stop buttons. Tab 3: Activity Pages The activity pages should include: • Gallery pictures and text about forest animals and birds. • Audio of forest animal and bird sounds. • Names and descriptions of young forest animals and birds. • An email service for parents covering published books and audio e-books. • Downloadable screensavers. Core Website Requirements • The website must support internal SEO to help improve visibility in Google search results. • The website should be free for parents and children to use, with no subscription charges. • The website should include a link to an e-commerce shop for branded gifts. • Online stories will be updated every six months. Only one story should be available online at a time. • Website refreshes should mainly involve replacing images and videos. All illustrations, videos and audio files will be provided during the development of the platform build. What I Need From the Freelancer • End-to-end website development, including front-end, back-end, and responsive design. • A simple CMS that allows me to upload new e-books, videos, and images without touching code. • A recommended CMS proposal, with examples of the freelancer’s experience using that system. • Smooth performance across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices. • Accessibility and child-safety best practices built in from the start. Collaboration and Milestones • Reviews will take place within the Freelancer workspace. • The freelancer should propose clear milestones to create, review, and verify each stage of the website build. A proposed platform build schedule is 12 weeks, in order to provide digital files in line with the site development. A proposed starting date is 1st November 2026 and a completion date before March 2027
