Editorial Illustrator for Digital Publication
USD 10–30
About the project
Project description I’m looking for an illustrator to create simple editorial sketches and illustrations for a digital publication focused on essays, stories, culture, and everyday observations. The visual direction should combine editorial illustration and traditional newspaper comic strips, with expressive, slightly imperfect, hand-drawn linework. I am not looking for anime, 3D, highly polished vector art, or an overly childish/cartoonish style. The illustrations should feel human, witty, expressive, and suitable for an editorial/literary publication. Most illustrations will be relatively simple: Mainly black and white / ink One or a few characters Expressive poses and facial expressions Minimal or no backgrounds Occasional props or simple environments Hand-drawn and slightly imperfect linework Intended primarily for web use There is already an established original character design that may appear in some illustrations, so the illustrator should be comfortable maintaining a consistent character while adapting poses, expressions, and situations. Initial commission I would like to start with one paid test illustration. If the visual style is a good fit, I’m interested in establishing an ongoing collaboration and commissioning illustrations in small batches. When applying, please include: Relevant portfolio samples Your price for one simple illustration/sketch Your estimated price for a batch of 5 illustrations Number of revisions included Final file formats provided I value personality, visual storytelling, expressive linework, and composition more than highly detailed rendering. References and a clear description of each illustration will be provided. Budget: Please quote your rate for the initial test illustration.
