About the project

Project Title: 3D Artist Required to Modify Character Head Mesh (.OBJ File) for 3D Printing Project Description: I am looking for an experienced 3D character artist or modeler to modify the head and hairstyle of an existing 3D character model. The model is a sleek, minimalist female mannequin character. I will provide the original source .obj file. The goal is to cleanly replace or remodel the head area to change the hair from its current style (a single smooth braid swept straight back) to a new, highly stylized cornrowed braid design. The face must remain completely featureless and smooth, matching the existing aesthetic. Attachments & Visual References: I have attached a side-by-side reference image to guide the modification: Right Side (Current): Shows the current model with the smooth, swept-back braid layout. Left Side (Target): Shows the exact target look, highlighting the tight cornrow pattern and the specific braided style I want replicated on the new head mesh. Along with exact head/ear/facial features. Also I have a video that would show more detail Key Requirements & Technical Specifications: Watertight (Manifold) Geometry: The final output must be 100% watertight with zero non-manifold edges, self-intersections, or stray internal faces. The new hair strands and braids must be completely fused and boolean-joined to the main body mesh. 3D Print Optimization: The final model is intended for FDM 3D printing. The individual ridges of the cornrows and the braided strands must maintain a minimum feature thickness of 0.8mm to 1mm to ensure they render cleanly with a standard 0.4mm nozzle and do not become brittle. Smooth Topology & Seamless Integration: The transition at the hairline where the new style meets the neck/forehead must be blended seamlessly. The rest of the smooth body geometry must be preserved without any accidental polygon stretching or unwanted artifacts. Scale Preservation: The file must retain its original scaling and proportions during the modification process. Deliverables: Modified source file in clean .obj or .fbx format (with clean topology/quads preferred). A high-resolution, error-free .stl file scaled and completely ready for import into a 3D slicer (Bambu Studio). Confidentiality & Intellectual Property Clause: Exclusive Ownership: By bidding on this project, the freelancer agrees that all modifications, source files, and finalized meshes delivered under this contract are a "work-for-hire," and full exclusive intellectual property rights belong solely to the client. Non-Disclosure: The original source .obj files provided and the final modified assets are strictly proprietary. They may not be shared, redistributed, or used by the freelancer for marketing, portfolio displays, or secondary sales without explicit written consent. Budget & Bidding Guidelines: Fixed Price Project: Please submit a flat, fixed-price bid for the full scope of work. Milestone Payments: Project funds will be managed via the platform's Milestone system. Milestones will be set up and only released upon successful delivery, inspection, and slice-verification of the watertight .stl file. Portfolio Requirement: Please provide examples of your previous 3D character modeling or asset modification work—specifically any projects optimized for physical 3D printing.
