About the project
POP Display Design Engineer / SolidWorks Drafter Potential Ongoing Work We are looking for an experienced POP (Point-of-Purchase) Display Design Engineer / SolidWorks Drafter to join our freelance network and assist with ongoing display projects. Our company specializes in 3D rendering, CAD drafting, fabrication drawings, and installation documentation for point-of-purchase and retail displays. We are looking for someone with real-world experience designing displays for manufacturing—not simply someone who is proficient in CAD. What You'll Be Doing Depending on the project, you may be responsible for: Developing 3D models in SolidWorks Creating production and fabrication drawings Developing sheet-metal, tube, wire, wood, acrylic, plastic and vacuum-formed components Creating weldment and assembly drawings Creating individual part drawings Developing BOMs and material lists Adding manufacturing dimensions, tolerances and notes Creating overall assembly views Developing installation and assembly instructions Modifying existing display designs Reviewing designs for manufacturability Making revisions based on customer markups Preparing drawings for both domestic and overseas manufacturing Materials & Manufacturing Experience Experience with the following is highly desirable: Tubing Sheet metal Wire Weldments Laser cutting Brake forming CNC fabrication Wood Acrylic Plastics Vacuum forming Graphics/signage Fasteners and hardware You should understand that a good POP display drawing needs to be designed around the actual manufacturing process, equipment, material availability, tolerances and assembly requirements. Experience designing for import/overseas manufacturing is a major plus. Software Required: SolidWorks Preferred: Experience creating SolidWorks weldments and assemblies Experience with SolidWorks drawing templates Ability to work with existing customer CAD standards and templates We currently use SolidWorks 2025. Types of Projects Our projects include: Floor-standing POP displays Counter displays Retail merchandising displays Wire displays Metal displays Combination metal/wood displays Product racks Specialty retail fixtures Promotional displays Custom branded displays What We're Looking For The ideal candidate has: 3+ years of relevant experience in POP displays, retail fixtures, store fixtures, or similar products Strong SolidWorks skills Strong understanding of fabrication and manufacturing Ability to interpret sketches, renderings, PDFs and existing CAD files Excellent attention to detail Ability to create clean, organized production drawings Ability to work independently Ability to follow established drawing standards Good communication skills Ability to meet deadlines POP display experience is strongly preferred. We are not looking for someone who only has general mechanical CAD experience. How We Work Projects can range from relatively simple estimate-level drawings to complete fabrication packages. We may provide: Hand sketches Customer renderings Existing CAD files Dimensions Photos Physical sample information Material specifications Customer markups You will be expected to take this information and develop a professional, manufacturable CAD/drawing package. Project Types We are interested in both one-time projects and long-term freelance relationships. The right person may receive recurring work as our project volume increases. We are particularly interested in freelancers who can provide additional capacity when our workload increases.
