About the project

Project Description We are a manufacturer of bus passenger seats and are developing a new design for a blow-moulded bus passenger seat. We already have an existing 3D CAD model of the seat in STEP/STP format. We need to modify the upper/top portion of the seat backrest to achieve a new visual design based on reference image(s) that we will provide. The final CAD model will be used for development/manufacturing of the blow mould, so we require proper engineering CAD geometry and not merely a visual 3D model. Inputs We Will Provide - Existing seat CAD model in STEP/STP format - Reference image(s) showing the desired new top design - Relevant dimensions and clarifications as required Scope of Work The freelancer will be required to: 1. Import and work with our existing STEP model. 2. Redesign the upper/top portion of the seat backrest to closely match the reference image. 3. Integrate the modified portion smoothly with the existing seat geometry. 4. Retain the existing geometry of the remaining seat as far as possible. 5. Create clean and continuous surfaces suitable for an industrial blow-moulded component. 6. Ensure that the modified geometry is suitable for subsequent blow-mould/tool development. 7. Maintain appropriate smooth transitions, radii and surface continuity between the existing and newly designed areas. 8. Deliver a clean, valid CAD model without unnecessary gaps, broken surfaces or geometry errors. The primary objective is to change the visual appearance of the upper portion while retaining the basic seat architecture and existing geometry. Manufacturing Consideration This is an engineering/manufacturing CAD project, not a rendering project. The final model is intended to be provided to our mould/tool manufacturer for development of the production blow mould. The designer should therefore have experience with plastic product design and manufacturable surface/solid modelling. Experience with blow-moulded components, automotive plastic components, automotive seating, injection-moulded components or tooling-oriented CAD would be strongly preferred. Where the reference styling cannot be reproduced exactly because of blow-moulding or tooling constraints, the freelancer should highlight the issue and propose a practical alternative rather than simply creating visually correct but non-manufacturable geometry. Deliverables - Final modified STEP/STP file suitable for further mould/tool development - Native CAD/source file, if available - Screenshots/rendered views from multiple angles for design approval - Minor revisions based on our review before final acceptance When Bidding Please mention: - CAD software you will use - Your experience with blow-moulded or moulded plastic component design - Experience designing CAD models that were subsequently used for mould/tool development - Relevant examples of previous work - Estimated turnaround time - Number of revisions included Software such as CATIA, Siemens NX, Creo, SolidWorks or equivalent professional CAD/surface-modelling software is preferred. Confidentiality All CAD files, reference images, dimensions and other information supplied by us are proprietary and confidential. They must not be shared, published, reproduced or used for any purpose other than completion of this project.
