Job Title: Junior Interior Designer Location: Remote Employment Type: Freelance / Self-employed (2 days/week, billed monthly) About Us We are an interior design studio specializing in residential projects with color and sustainability at the heart of everything we create. We are looking for a creative, detail-oriented Junior Interior Designer to join our team on an initial 2-day-a-week basis, with the potential to expand into a 4-day-a-week role as projects grow. Key Details Schedule: Initial commitment of 2 days per week (flexible distribution), with the opportunity to progress to 4 days per week. Payment Structure: Freelance / Independent Contractor basis. Payment is processed on a monthly invoice basis. Job Overview As a Junior Interior Designer, you will collaborate directly with our core team to bring sustainable, vibrant residential concepts to life. You will contribute across all stages of the design process, from initial concept development and 3D modeling to selecting eco-friendly materials and coordinating project timelines. Responsibilities Concept & Spatial Design: Develop comprehensive interior design concepts that align with client preferences, budget, and project scope. Create detailed floor plans, elevations, and 3D visualizations. Technical Documentation: Prepare accurate construction documents and CAD drawings for contractor use and permitting processes. Material & FF&E Selection: Select appropriate materials, finishes, furniture, lighting, and accessories that enhance the overall design aesthetic while adhering to sustainable design principles. Project Management: Manage multiple projects simultaneously by setting schedules, tracking progress, and ensuring deadlines are met through effective project management. Industry Growth: Stay current with industry trends, sustainable materials, and innovative design techniques to continually elevate your work. Qualifications & Skills Software Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of SketchUp, AutoCAD, and related CAD software. Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related discipline is preferred. Prior practical experience in interior design is preferred, but not required for candidates with strong portfolios. Core Competencies: Excellent project management skills with the ability to juggle multiple deadlines efficiently. Communication: Strong interpersonal skills for clear collaboration with clients, vendors, contractors, and team members. Design Mindset: Meticulous attention to detail paired with a creative eye for spatial aesthetics, color, and functionality.
