About the project
CAD Designer About the role I'm looking for a CAD designer to help with 3D modeling of plastic parts intended for mass production. Work will involve design for manufacturing and assembly (DFMA) for plastic manufacturing processes such as injection moulding, vacuum casting, and 3D printing. This is an entry-level role — no professional experience needed, but you should be willing to learn manufacturing-aware design principles. What you'll do Create 3D CAD models of plastic parts from briefs, sketches, or reference images Apply DFMA principles for plastic mass production (wall thickness, draft angles, ribs, tolerances, etc.) Design parts suited to plastic manufacturing processes (injection moulding, vacuum casting, 3D printing) Build clean models with guidance Make revisions based on feedback Export files as needed (STEP / STL / drawings) What I'm looking for Some basic CAD ability (any software — courses, personal projects, or self-taught all fine) Interest in or awareness of design for plastic manufacturing (DFMA) Ability to work independently and manage your own time once briefed Willingness to learn and take direction Attention to detail and reliability Clear communication in English Desirable (not required) Fusion 360 experience Knowledge of plastic manufacturing design rules (injection moulding, vacuum casting, 3D printing) Any personal or student CAD projects to show Basic understanding of parametric modeling Rate & commitment $5/hour 6–8 hours per day, roughly full-time ~4 month project with potential to extend Deliverables 3D models and exports as required (STEP / STL / drawings)
