About the project
### Job Title **Massachusetts-Licensed Civil/Site Engineer – Nantucket Wetland Crossing, Access Road & NOI Plans** ### Job Description We are seeking an experienced **Massachusetts-licensed Professional Engineer (PE)** for an expedited residential civil/site engineering project in Nantucket, Massachusetts. The property is approximately **2.45 acres** and is being evaluated for a **two-lot front/rear subdivision**. The immediate engineering need is to design a private/subdivision access road along the easterly side of the property, including a **wetland crossing and fire turnaround**, and prepare the civil engineering plans and calculations required to support a **Notice of Intent (NOI)** filing with the Nantucket Conservation Commission. A professional wetland scientist has already completed the wetland delineation, GPS-located the wetland flags, and mapped the applicable buffer zones. A professional land survey is also substantially complete. Preliminary subdivision/access concepts are being developed separately. ### Scope of Work The selected engineer will be expected to: * Review the existing survey, wetland delineation, GPS data, buffer zones, and proposed access alignment. * Develop the private/subdivision access road layout. * Design the wetland crossing. * Establish roadway/driveway grades and profiles. * Prepare existing and proposed grading/contours. * Design drainage/stormwater management as applicable. * Design an appropriate fire apparatus turnaround. * Coordinate utilities through or alongside the access corridor. * Establish limits of disturbance. * Prepare erosion and sediment-control details. * Prepare crossing details, sections, and construction notes. * Calculate temporary and permanent wetland/resource-area impacts. * Prepare engineering calculations necessary for the NOI. * Coordinate with our wetland consultant, surveyor, land-use attorney, and subdivision planner. * Prepare and **PE-stamp the civil/site drawings** required for the Conservation Commission submission. * Respond to reasonable engineering comments during the initial permitting review. Our wetland consultant will lead the environmental narrative and NOI filing. This assignment is specifically for the **civil/site engineering component**. ### Existing Information Available We can provide immediately: * existing survey/base plans; * CAD files as available; * wetland study; * GPS wetland point data; * wetland and buffer-zone mapping; * preliminary subdivision layouts; * proposed road/access concepts; * aerial/site information; and * direct access to our wetland consultant and land-use team. This is **not a boundary survey assignment** and does not require the engineer to redo the wetland delineation. ### Required Qualifications * Active **Massachusetts PE license**. * Strong civil/site-development experience. * Experience with Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act permitting. * Road/private-driveway design experience. * Grading and drainage/stormwater design experience. * Wetland-crossing and erosion-control experience. * AutoCAD/Civil 3D capability. * Ability to work efficiently with existing survey and environmental consultants. Experience in **Nantucket, Cape Cod, Martha’s Vineyard, or other Massachusetts coastal/wetland jurisdictions** is preferred but not mandatory. ### Schedule This is an **expedited project**. We are looking for someone who can: * begin immediately; * provide a preliminary access/crossing concept within approximately **2–4 business days**; and * target an **NOI-ready civil engineering package within approximately 7–10 calendar days**, assuming the required information is provided promptly. Please do not apply unless you can begin quickly. ### Budget Anticipated budget: **$8,000–$15,000** We prefer either: * fixed fee; or * phased/not-to-exceed pricing. Please provide your proposed scope and fee rather than simply accepting the maximum budget. ### Please Include With Your Proposal 1. Massachusetts PE license number. 2. Examples of similar site-development, wetland-crossing, road, or NOI projects. 3. Massachusetts/Cape & Islands permitting experience. 4. Confirmation of immediate availability. 5. Earliest date you could provide a preliminary plan. 6. Estimated turnaround for an NOI-ready civil package. 7. Proposed fee or not-to-exceed budget. 8. Whether you believe an initial site visit is necessary. **Responsiveness and turnaround time are important. We are prepared to engage the right engineer immediately.**
