Cartoonish 3D Animated Movie

About the project

I’m looking for an experienced 3D character animator/animation team to help develop an original cartoon-style animated musical feature called The Star Chase Movie. The project follows the life of singer-songwriter Chenai Boucher, from growing up in regional Queensland and dreaming of becoming a performer, through years of auditions and rejection, moving to Melbourne, relationships, loss, songwriting, building an album independently, and ultimately walking onto the stadium stage she imagined as a child. Music is central to the film. Original songs drive the story and transition the audience into different animated worlds. The tone moves between funny, colourful, magical, emotional and cinematic, while heavier moments are handled sensitively and symbolically. The film also has its own character universe, including plush-style animal characters, an angel and devil character, a recurring eagle, a little blue cowboy hat, stars, sunflowers and other visual motifs. These characters and objects connect directly to songs and moments in the story. I already have substantial development completed, including: * Detailed master story/plot * Approximately 200 visual storyboard/reference images * Character and plush concepts * Song catalogue and lyrics * Visual references and branding * Key environments and locations * Major scene concepts * Recurring symbols and character arcs I am looking for someone who can help turn this existing material into a cohesive, professional animated film, rather than starting the concept from scratch. Style: polished, cinematic, cartoonish 3D animation with expressive characters, strong lighting, beautiful Australian landscapes, magical musical sequences and concert/stadium environments. Important: I would like to discuss producing the project in stages rather than immediately committing to the entire film. The first stage could include character/style development and a short proof-of-concept or selected scene. If we work well together, the goal is to continue into the complete film. Please include examples of previous 3D character animation, animated films, music-based animation or cinematic storytelling. I would also like to know what software you use, whether you work independently or with a team, your estimated production workflow, and what materials you would need from me to begin. Please do not apply if your portfolio does not demonstrate actual character animation.
