Stylized Modular Game Avatar Creation
USD 30–250
About the project
We are hiring an experienced Stylized 3D Character Artist / Technical Character Artist to build the master avatar system for a confidential virtual workplace platform. This is not a simple character modeling job. We need a production-ready modular character system that will become the foundation for a large wardrobe and multiple future avatar variations. The character style is friendly, clean, modern and stylized, designed for a professional virtual workplace. We will provide character direction, visual references and a detailed measurement specification. Phase 1 — Master Base Character Create one clean stylized base character with controlled proportions and exact scale. Target height: 150 cm / 1.50 m The base character must include a complete underlying body suitable for modular clothing. The initial master body should be neutral and simplified, with no permanently attached: Hair Clothing Shoes Accessories Facial customization elements The body must have clean deformation-friendly topology. No exaggerated anatomy, muscles or body details. Modular Architecture The character must support interchangeable: Hair Eyes / facial customization Eyebrows Eyewear Headwear / Hijab Inner Top Outer Top / Jacket Bottom Shoes Bag / Backpack Badge / ID Accessories All wearable assets must remain independent from the master body. We do not want clothing permanently fused into the character mesh. Master Rig Create one consistent humanoid master skeleton suitable for real-time animation. Required deformation quality: Shoulders Armpits Elbows Wrists Hips Crotch Knees Ankles Neck The same rig must support future characters and modular clothing. Required motion tests: Idle Walk Sit Stand Up Arms Up Torso Turn Clothing System After approval of the Master Body, we will create garments one by one. Initial clothing blocks: Basic T-Shirt Office Shirt Blazer Straight Pants Sneakers The clothes must be designed specifically around the master body measurements. Important: clothing must NOT be shrink-wrapped tightly onto the body. We want natural garment volume and realistic stylized ease. A shirt must look like a shirt, not a second skin. A blazer must sit naturally above the shirt. The artist must understand: Garment ease Layering Armholes Collars Sleeve deformation Skin weights Clipping prevention Technical Requirements Preferred software: Blender Final runtime format: GLB / glTF Source files: .blend required Assets must be suitable for a real-time web application. We require: Clean topology UVs PBR materials Organized hierarchy Consistent naming Correct transforms Correct scale Animation-ready topology Reusable modular parts The model must export and re-import cleanly. Optimization We do not need film/VFX geometry. The final production model must be optimized for a real-time virtual environment while maintaining the stylized visual quality. Please provide both the editable high-quality source and optimized game-ready outputs where appropriate. Required Deliverables Master character .blend Master character .glb Master skeleton / rig Modular body hierarchy Separate clothing assets Textures and materials UVs Measurement verification Turnaround renders Wireframe screenshots Rig / weight-paint demonstration Animation deformation tests Short technical documentation explaining hierarchy, slots, scale and export process Acceptance Requirements We will test that: The body remains complete when clothing is hidden. Hair can be removed without damaging the head. Shoes can be removed and the feet remain complete. Each garment can be enabled and disabled independently. The character uses one consistent rig. Clothing does not penetrate the body during normal movement. Clothing does not excessively cling to the body. The shirt and jacket work correctly as separate layers. The character preserves correct scale after GLB export. The character works correctly after GLB re-import. Who We Are Looking For We want someone experienced with production character pipelines, not only sculpting or rendering. When applying, please provide only your strongest relevant character examples. Your portfolio should ideally show modular characters, clothing, topology, rigs and deformation tests. Application Questions 1. Show 3 examples of stylized characters you personally modeled. 2. Show at least one character with clean topology and rigging. 3. Have you built a modular character or interchangeable clothing system before? 4. Can the same rig be used across multiple clothing assets? 5. Do you work primarily in Blender? 6. Do you have experience exporting production assets to GLB/glTF? 7. Can you deliver the complete editable .blend source? 8. How would you prevent clothing from sticking to or clipping through the body? 9. What polygon budget would you recommend for a real-time web avatar? 10. Quote separately for: Master Body + Rig, then each additional garment. Please do not apply with AI-generated 3D examples unless you personally performed the topology, fitting, rigging and production cleanup.
