Dual-Motor Hose Reel Redesign

About the project

I already have a working hose-reel CAD model, but it needs three key upgrades before I can move it into production for a commercial client: • Adjust the frame width so it can carry a longer hose bundle without compromising rigidity. • Replace the current under-powered drive with a properly sized, high-torque motor. I need help identifying an off-the-shelf unit, confirming shaft alignment, and updating the mounting plates. • Create an alternate “split” version that houses two separate reels on one shared frame with a fixed divider down the centre. Hose guides and motor coupling must be revised accordingly. I will share the existing 3D files (STEP & SolidWorks) and basic load calculations. You can remodel in SolidWorks, Inventor, or similar, but final deliverables must include: 1. Updated 3D assemblies and fully detailed fabrication drawings for both the single-reel and split-reel versions. 2. Motor specification sheet with vendor links, part numbers, and torque/speed confirmation against my duty cycle. 3. A short PDF summary explaining design changes, new BOM items, and any machining or welding notes my fabricator should know. Everything will be installed outdoors in a busy commercial setting, so please keep service access and robustness in mind while tweaking the design. If you have done powered reels, winches, or similar mechanical retrofits before, I’d like to see a sample of that work when we start. Looking forward to tightening up this design together and getting it on the shop floor.
