Redesign Transparent Dishwasher Door

About the project

I’m refreshing our signature see-through dishwasher door and would like a product designer who can give it a truly modern, aesthetically striking look. The current model on kingdishwasher.com has served us well, but it now feels dated. I need either a confident facelift or a completely new concept. Here’s the basic architecture you’ll be working with: two separate panels—an inner panel with a smaller viewing window and an outer panel with a larger one. Both must remain crystal-clear, durable and easy to clean. While retaining that proven structure, I want the outer form to feel contemporary, with a sleek surface finish and an inventive colour treatment that instantly signals premium quality. A major part of the brief is rethinking the human-machine interface. I prefer a hybrid solution that blends a waterproof, feather-touch display with seamlessly integrated smooth buttons. The interface houses a 5-inch screen that shows program progress and lets users select cycles or adjust settings. Everything must align with the overall door styling, so the controls should look like a natural extension of the design rather than an afterthought. To keep the project focused, I’ll need: • High-fidelity concept sketches or renders that clearly show materials, colours and lighting interactions • Production-ready 3D CAD files for both the inner and outer panels, including mounting details and gasket seats • An exploded view that illustrates assembly, sealing strategy and how the electronics package integrates behind the panel • A front-facing view of the HMI in operation, highlighting iconography, button placement and screen states Feel free to recommend material options, coatings or printing techniques that enhance clarity without compromising robustness. I’m prioritising looks, so every design decision—from colour breaks to radius transitions—should reinforce a clean, sophisticated aesthetic.
