Car roofrack wind deflector - 3D Model for production and 3D printing
USD 30–250
About the project
I have several 3D scans (made with Leica BLK, .e57 file format) of the roof-rack zone on my vehicle and need a professional 3D CAD model of a custom wind deflector that hugs those surfaces precisely. The end goal is to bolt-on a sleek, low-noise add-on, so appearance and aerodynamic smoothness matter as much as fitment. You will receive: • the raw mesh from the scan (OBJ and STL) • photos showing how the deflector should wrap the leading bar and taper toward the sides What I expect back is a watertight, parametric solid (STEP or IGES preferred) plus a print-ready STL. Surfaces must align to the scan within ±0.5 mm and all mounting holes need to be dimensioned for M6 hardware. Because this is a customization project rather than a simple replacement, I’m looking for someone who has real-world experience turning scan data into production-ready parts—especially exterior automotive accessories. If that sounds like you, tell me briefly about similar scan-to-CAD projects you’ve completed and the software you’ll use (e.g., Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Rhino + Grasshopper). I’ll review portfolios this week and would like to kick the project off right away, so feel free to ask any technical questions up front. attached is a photo of a current part, but it needs to be replaced, with a custom one, that contours the line of the roof, which is curved. first prototype should be a small scale (1:20) of the upper part of the car (or whole car, depending if my 3D scans were good enough) and the part. i plan to 3D print the part, to see how it will fit and look like on a small scale model first, then send the drawing to a company to manufacture it. attached are also screenshots of 3d scans, full files will be sent to the successful freelancer also, if the scans are not good, i can re-do them.
