Description

C/NOFS, a US Department of Defense Space Test Program and Air Force Research Laboratory mission launched in 2008 to detect and forecast ionosphere disturbances that disrupt radio and navigation signals. The model shows the eight-sided grey body, four long wire booms with tip sensors and an axial boom running above and below.

Technical details: about 303,000 polygons and 909,000 vertices, with 25 colour materials and no image textures. That is dense; decimate it before mobile, web or VR use. It is scaled to 5 metres across its long booms for AiZity's catalogue scale, so the body is small; the viewer opens close on the body.

The download includes GLB for web viewers and three.js, FBX for Unity, Unreal Engine and Maya, OBJ as a widely supported mesh, and BLEND for Blender. AiZity cleaned up the original (centred, grounded and renamed the parts) and converted it to these formats.

Good for space weather lessons, GPS disruption explainers, satellite animations and technical illustrations.
