About the project

I am looking for an experienced ABAQUS/FEA specialist to help develop a numerical model for the fatigue behaviour of Textile Reinforced Concrete (TRC) composites. The project involves creating a 3D finite element model of a TRC specimen at material scale using ABAQUS. The model should include a cement-based mortar matrix and textile reinforcement (carbon and glass textiles). The work will involve defining appropriate material properties, modelling textile reinforcement, applying tensile and cyclic loading, and analysing fatigue response. The main tasks include: • Developing and refining an ABAQUS (.cae/.inp) model of TRC composites. • Selecting suitable solid elements and embedded textile reinforcement modelling techniques. • Defining mortar and textile material properties, including orthotropic behaviour where required. • Applying boundary conditions and cyclic loading for fatigue analysis. • Performing mesh sensitivity and convergence checks. • Validating the numerical model against published experimental stress–strain data. • Extracting and analysing stress, strain, stiffness degradation, and damage evolution results. • Comparing the fatigue performance of carbon textile and glass textile reinforced concrete. Required experience: • Strong ABAQUS finite element modelling experience. • Knowledge of composite materials and cement-based composites. • Experience with damage modelling and fatigue analysis. • Familiarity with composite failure criteria or ABAQUS scripting (Python) is an advantage. Deliverables: • A validated ABAQUS model of TRC behaviour. • Simulation results and graphical outputs (stress–strain curves, stiffness degradation, damage evolution). • Clear documentation of the modelling procedure and assumptions for dissertation purposes. The workflow should be fully reproducible so that the model can be modified and rerun for further studies
