About the project

**3D Modeler needed — custom 3D-printable PC case (mech / quadruped robot design)** Hi, I'm looking for a 3D modeler (CAD, hard-surface / mechanical) to design a custom PC case that will be 3D printed at home. The case should look like a walking mech — a quadruped robot with an armored "head" module sitting on four articulated legs, white panels with sharp chamfered edges and blue LED accent strips. I'll provide reference concept art. I don't need a 1:1 copy of the reference, I need a design clearly inspired by it that actually works as a functional PC enclosure. **Scope of work** - Design the full enclosure: main body (housing the hardware), four legs acting as the structural stand, and the sculpted top/front armor panels - Split the model into printable parts sized for my printer's build volume, with proper joints (dovetails, dowel pins, or screw bosses) so the pieces assemble rigidly - Design in printing constraints: minimal support needs, sensible wall thickness, no fragile overhangs on load-bearing legs - Integrate mounting points: motherboard standoffs, PSU bracket, GPU support, fan/radiator mounts, SSD/HDD mounts, I/O and rear cutouts, front panel button and USB placement - Airflow: intake and exhaust openings with adequate cross-section, sensible cooling path, dust filter mounts if practical - Channels/recesses for LED strips and cable routing - Structural check: the legs must safely carry the loaded weight of the machine **My hardware / constraints** - Motherboard form factor: ATX - GPU: integrated to the motherboard as one processing unit (its a waterblock integrated to the motherboard reducing the space and optimizing the cooling) - PSU: ATX - Cooling: custom cooling system - Printer build volume 40x40x50cm, material PLA **Deliverables** - Editable parametric CAD source (Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or STEP with feature history if possible) - Neutral STEP export of the full assembly - Watertight, print-ready STL/3MF per part, correctly oriented - Short assembly guide: part list, print order, hardware list (screws, nuts, inserts), exploded views or renders **How I'd like to work** Milestone-based: (1) rough blockout validating proportions and internal volume, (2) detailed exterior modeling, (3) part splitting + print prep and final files. I'll give feedback at each stage. When you apply, please include: - Portfolio links showing hard-surface or mechanical/functional 3D printing work (not just game-art meshes) - Which software you'd use - Your estimate of hours or a fixed price, and a rough timeline - Whether you have experience designing parts that were actually printed and assembled Thanks — happy to answer any questions about the hardware or the look I'm after.
