About the project

Our upcoming construction-tech platform needs a purpose-built LiDAR module that delivers millimeter-level distance measurements on both indoor and outdoor sites. The ultimate goal is seamless, low-latency distance read-outs that speak directly to our embedded controller and feed real-time data into construction workflows familiar to civil and architectural teams. Key requirements • Distance-only measurement, no full 3D mapping • Consistent accuracy within a few millimeters across typical construction ranges • Stable performance both under roof and in open sunlight • Clean, well-documented firmware that exposes measurements via UART or SPI (existing MCU is ARM-based C/C++) • Clear calibration and verification procedure that site managers can execute without lab equipment Deliverables 1. Sensor selection report or custom schematic with BOM 2. Firmware stack with commented source and build instructions 3. Mechanical mounting guide tailored to steel studs, concrete formwork and tripod setups 4. Test results proving millimeter accuracy indoors and outdoors (raw data + analysis notebook) 5. Final integration manual and on-site commissioning checklist Acceptance criteria The integrated sensor must repeatedly measure known targets from 0.5 m to 30 m with ≤ ±2 mm error in daylight and warehouse lighting, and must boot, read and report within 250 ms of power-on. If this aligns with your embedded background—and you know your way around rebar, formwork and construction tolerances—let’s bring precise distance sensing to the jobsite.
