About the project
I already have a clean STL of the product—about the size of an asthma inhaler—and I need a fully parametric SolidWorks model of a protective sleeve that simply slides on and snaps shut around it. The sleeve must not grip the object directly; instead, it should latch onto itself so the device can be removed without flexing the core product. Style & geometry • Exterior: deliberate low-poly, faceted “crystal” look. Think sharp, gem-like planes rather than smooth rounds. • Interior: follows the scan within roughly 0.3-0.5 mm clearance. I’m happy to refine that gap if your experience suggests a better figure for 3D-printed prototypes and later injection-molded tooling. • Snap feature: built-in catch or tab that locks the sleeve closed; no two-piece clamshell. • No text or logos—clean surfaces only. • Draft angles, parting lines, and split options should be considered so the design can move straight into injection-mold tooling after prototype validation. Deliverables 1. Native SolidWorks files with fully editable parametric history (no imported dumb solids). 2. STEP export for quick sharing. 3. A short note explaining the snap mechanism, recommended resin, and any mold considerations. 4. Up to two quick revisions after I test-print and check the fit. Acceptance criteria: the first print snaps together cleanly, holds without wobble, and can be removed easily; the outside shows the intentional faceted aesthetic with no stray triangles or mesh artifacts.
