About the project
I’m developing a fully transparent TPU “smart” shoe that includes an internal hollow chamber capable of holding water-based liquid so the wearer can change colors on the fly. I already have the functional idea sketched out; what I need now is a footwear CAD specialist who can translate it into a manufacturing-ready design while keeping breathability front and center. The entire shoe—upper and sole—must be clear TPU, injection-mouldable, comfortable for everyday use, and completely waterproof when filled. Within the midsole and upper you’ll engineer the chamber geometry, a simple filling and sealing mechanism, and any reinforcing ribs or film transitions needed to preserve flexibility without clouding the material. I’d also like your insight on wall thicknesses, draft angles, vent placement, and any gating considerations to make large-scale tooling realistic. Please model in SolidWorks, Rhino, or Fusion 360—whichever you prefer—and supply editable files along with neutral formats (STEP, IGES, STL). Visualisation is important, so high-quality renders that show the transparent TPU with coloured liquid inside will help me pitch the concept. Deliverables • Complete 3D CAD of upper, sole, and integrated chamber • Detail for the liquid fill/closure system • Manufacturing notes highlighting injection-moulding feasibility • Photorealistic renders from multiple angles (transparent material + coloured liquid) • Exported STEP/IGES/STL files suitable for prototyping Acceptance criteria The model must: 1. Maintain uniform transparency once moulded. 2. Provide clear airflow paths or perforation concepts that do not compromise watertight integrity, achieving the targeted breathability. 3. Show draft and undercut analysis proving the parts can be released from a two-part mould or with minimal sliders.
