About the project
I have a series of functional plastic components that must perform reliably both indoors and outdoors. They will be produced first by vacuum casting for pre-series runs, then by injection molding for full production, so the CAD models have to be truly manufacturing-ready from day one. Core performance goals • High strength and durability under use • Precision geometry with tight tolerances so that mating parts assemble cleanly and seals remain leak-free What I need from you 1. 3D CAD models optimised for both injection-mold and silicone tool draft, including split lines, ejector pin placement and consistent wall thickness. 2. 2D manufacturing drawings with dimensions, tolerances, surface finishes and material call-outs. 3. Neutral export files (STEP/IGES) plus the native file format you work in (SolidWorks, Inventor, NX or similar) so my mold maker can pick up where you leave off. 4. A brief DFM note for each part outlining gating, draft and anticipated shrink considerations; this keeps the tooling discussion quick and factual. I’m happy to iterate, but the first submission should already respect common injection-molding guidelines—no deep, un-drafted ribs, avoided sink marks, uniform wall sections, etc. If you have past experience with glass-filled nylons, PC-ABS blends or similar engineering plastics, please highlight it; that expertise will be valuable when choosing final resin grades.
