3D Topography STEP Model

About the project

I have a block of land that has already been surveyed, and I now need the ground profile translated into a workable 3-D STEP file so my construction team can begin grading, earthworks, and drainage studies. The main survey information I can provide is a **PDF containing contour lines and site information**, so the terrain model will need to be created from the levels and contours shown on that PDF. Medium-level detail is fine. Every significant elevation change, slope, breakline, retaining wall, roadway, and other major site feature shown on the survey should be represented. There is no need for photorealistic textures, vegetation, or minor cosmetic details. Accuracy and clean, usable geometry are much more important. I would also like the **basic structure/form of the proposed house modelled into the site**, using the information I provide. The surrounding ground/earthworks should then be shaped reasonably closely around the house so that the model gives a realistic indication of how the building will sit within the existing terrain. This does not need to be an architectural-detail model; the main goal is to accurately represent the house footprint, main levels/form, and its relationship to the ground. ### Preferred workflow You are free to work in Civil 3D, Revit, Rhino, Blender, or another suitable terrain/CAD modelling package, provided the final model is clean and can be supplied as a STEP/STP file that imports reliably into Autodesk products. ### Deliverables • 1 × 3-D site/ground model in STP/STEP format. • Existing terrain modelled from the supplied PDF contour survey. • Major slopes, elevation changes, breaklines, retaining walls, roads and similar features included where shown. • Basic house structure/form positioned correctly within the terrain. • Ground/earthworks around the house shaped as closely as practical from the available information. • Geometry organised logically so the terrain, major features, house structure, breaklines and reference information can be easily identified. • A quick screenshot or low-resolution preview of the completed model so I can review the terrain and house position before final sign-off. ### Acceptance criteria – STEP/STP file opens correctly in Autodesk products with no missing faces, corrupt geometry, or self-intersections. – Ground elevations should align with the supplied survey information as closely as possible, with a target tolerance of approximately ±0.05 m where the PDF provides sufficient information. – Major contours, slopes and breaks in the terrain are clearly represented. – House location and main levels are positioned accurately relative to the terrain. – Model geometry is clean enough to be used for preliminary grading, earthworks and drainage studies. The initial job is primarily to establish the **existing terrain and house within the site**. If the quality of this model is good, there will likely be a **second job** to develop the model further, including the **driveway, detailed earthworks and site drainage**. Turnaround is flexible in favour of quality.
