About the project

I want to commission a collection of twenty complete chess sets, each one entirely re-imagined around its own theme. Every set must include the six standard roles—King, Queen, Rook, Bishop, Knight and Pawn—so players can recognise them instantly, yet the forms, costumes and props should leave no doubt about the chosen setting. Style preference My platform leans toward a mostly realistic look, so natural proportions, believable materials and subtle wear matter. A few of the sets can push into cartoonish or highly stylised territory where the concept calls for it; think of it as room for creative flair rather than the dominant approach. Themes I am hungry for variety: Viking warriors, Roman legionaries, Japanese imperial guards, a Warcraft-like fantasy realm, a Pokémon-inspired bestiary and any other historical, pop-culture or pure-fantasy idea that excites you. The key is that each set feels coherent within itself while standing apart from the others in mood and visual language. Technical expectations • Clean quad-based topology suitable for real-time rendering • PBR textures (base color, metallic, roughness, normal, AO) at 4K resolution • Idle animation loop for each piece, exported with the model (FBX or glTF) • File size optimised for WebGL; models must import flawlessly into a Three.js scene • Naming conventions and pivot placement consistent across all sets for painless integration Deliverables 1. Twenty themed sets, each containing six unique, fully textured models with idle animations (120 models total) 2. One turntable render and one sprite sheet preview per piece for quick reviews 3. Source files in Blender, Maya or 3ds Max alongside final glTF/FBX exports and textures 4. A brief documentation sheet summarising poly counts, texture maps and any special shaders used Acceptance criteria Models display correctly inside my testing scene, retain their animation, and the theme of each piece is clear to a casual observer while the chess role is never in doubt. We will review one pilot set first; once approved, we roll into batches to keep feedback fast and focused. If you thrive on imaginative world-building and spotless 3D production, I would love to see your portfolio and discuss how we bring these boards to life.
