About the project

I have a physical velovigil style unit on my bench that must be turned into a fully documented, production-ready package. The main goal is to end up with detailed manufacturing files, not just a pretty 3D image. Here’s what the job involves: • Reverse-engineer every panel, tab, slot, bend and hole into a precise 3D CAD assembly suitable for sheet-metal workflows (laser cutting and brake-press bending). • Generate fabrication drawings and DXF files with exact dimensions, bend lines, tolerances and notes ready to hand straight to a laser-cutting shop. • Optimise the design for low-volume production: correct corner reliefs, kerf allowances, reasonable bend radii and tidy nesting. • Supply an exploded assembly model so I can run fit-checks before ordering the first prototype. • After the first physical build, incorporate any tweaks needed to guarantee everything mates perfectly. I don’t have any legacy drawings or digital files, only the physical sample, so you’ll be working from measurements, photos and any extra data you request from me. I’d appreciate your recommendation on the level of dimensional tolerance we should hold to strike the right balance between accuracy and manufacturability. Native SolidWorks or Fusion 360 format is preferred, but let me know if you have a stronger suggestion. Expect a brief video call at kickoff to review critical features, then I’ll ship or deliver the unit to you (depending on location). Deliverables—hand-over ready: 1. Native 3D CAD assembly with fully defined parts 2. Flat-pattern DXFs for each sheet-metal component 3. Production 2D drawings (PDF & DWG) with tolerances, material specs and finish callouts 4. BOM with material and hardware list 5. One revision cycle after prototype feedback If this fits your skill set, tell me which CAD platform you’ll use, how you plan to capture the geometry accurately, and any similar sheet-metal projects you’ve completed.
