About the project
We are producing a 30–40 minute 3D animated video titled “Flood Size Comparison.” In this video, we will animate various floods of different sizes and intensities to visualize their impact and scale across a series of sequences. You will be responsible for creating and animating the flood water, modelling the required environments, and integrating the water simulations into each environment to match the visual style and pacing of the video. You will be provided with reference files, including ocean and environmental assets. However, most of the models and animation elements will need to be created from scratch. Main Responsibilities Modelling and animating flood water in different settings Creating environmental elements including terrain, water bodies, buildings, and surrounding objects Creating settings and physics simulations to achieve realistic flood behaviour and scale Animating camera movements and water interactions Ensuring animations sync with the pacing and narration Creating realistic water flow, flooding, and environmental interactions Video Structure The video will follow a classic comparison format featuring floods of different sizes and intensities. Camera pans and zoom-ins to showcase each flood Flood animations showing different levels of severity, from small to moderate to catastrophic Visual comparisons of flood heights against landmarks, buildings, and other known reference points Camera flythroughs showcasing flood levels, movement, and impact Smooth camera flyovers comparing multiple floods of varying sizes and intensities Tasks Required Modelling & Texturing The main focus will be on creating realistic flood water and environments. Limited texturing will be required for basic assets such as the sky, water, terrain, and buildings. Modelling and simulating flood water from scratch will be crucial. This includes creating realistic water movement, flow, depth, and interactions with the surrounding environment. Asset Breakdown: Approximately 45 unique models, including: Various flood water types and levels Environmental assets Buildings and structures Landmarks Debris and surrounding objects Environment Creation Build multiple environments for each flood scenario to interact with, such as: Coastal cities Urban areas River deltas Residential areas Open landscapes Low-lying regions Additional requirements include: Lighting and atmospheric effects Clouds and weather conditions Water reflections Realistic terrain Environmental details Water simulation and interaction with structures Animation Animate the flood water with realistic physical behaviour, including: Water flow Rising water levels Flooding Water movement around structures Impact on buildings and objects Debris movement Realistic water interaction with terrain Ensure accurate scaling for each flood scenario relative to environmental assets. Animations must also be synchronized with narration and scene transitions. Apply zooms, camera movements, and slow-motion effects where specified to emphasize important moments, such as water reaching a city or flooding a large landmass. Create seamless transitions between video footage and 3D animation where required. Final Delivery The final delivery should include: Completed project files with all assets integrated High-resolution rendered video sequences for each section All working files Textures 3D models Scenes Rigs, where applicable Water and physics simulations Animation files
