Mini-Sports Game Development for Youth App
USD 250–750
About the project
TITLE: Freelance Game Developer — Sports Mini-Games for Youth Training App (Phaser.js / Three.js / Babylon.js) OVERVIEW I have an interactive training web platform for youth athletes — skill tracking, progress, a social layer for teammates, etc. It also has an 'arcade' to help engage them. Its built around a library of short, replayable sports mini-games. We're looking for a freelance game developer to prototype the first games from an existing concept catalog. Full concept catalog and recommendations available upon request, but open to ideas. SCOPE OF WORK Build [2–3] games from the catalog above as playable web prototypes. The catalog spans two flavors: - Training games — short, clean skill tests (timing, accuracy, reaction) tied to a specific sport - Wildcard games — carnival-meets-sports mashups (Banana Ball style): wackier and more spectacle-driven, but still scoring a real underlying skill under the chaos Each game should: - Play in under 2 minutes per session - Output a single 0–100 performance score through a simple hook/callback we can wire to our XP system - Run in-browser on mobile and desktop, embeddable in our web app - Use Phaser.js (2D) by default; Three.js or Babylon.js only where the concept specifically calls for a 3D/depth moment (the catalog notes which) - Be built with clean, reusable code so the same pattern can be extended to the rest of the catalog later DELIVERABLES - [X] playable game builds + source code - Short writeup of how the score-to-XP hook is exposed for integration - Placeholder art is fine for this phase — final art direction will follow separately IDEAL SKILLS - Strong Phaser.js (or comparable HTML5 2D engine) experience; Three.js/Babylon.js a plus - Experience with lightweight physics (Matter.js) for arcade-style mechanics - Track record building fast, replayable, short-session games rather than long-form titles - Comfortable with youth-appropriate, family-friendly art and tone TO APPLY, PLEASE INCLUDE - 2–3 examples of short-session or arcade-style web games you've built - Which concept(s) from the catalog you'd want to build first, and why - Your estimated timeline and rate for [2–3] prototypes BUDGET: TBD TIMELINE: Flexible
