Realistic 3D Product & Packaging
AUD 750–1500
About the project
We are an Australian manufacturer developing a new retail range of sticky-backed closed-cell foam sealing tape for the independent hardware market. We are looking for a highly capable product marketing, packaging design, CGI/3D animation and video production specialist, or small creative studio, to take our existing concept and turn it into a polished, commercially convincing B2B presentation. This project has two connected parts: 1. Refinement and visualisation of the retail packaging and display concept 2. Creation of a professional 90–120 second vertical product launch video The primary audience is Australian hardware-store owners and retail buyers. The video and supporting visuals must show why this is a practical, versatile and commercially attractive range for hardware stores to stock. PRODUCT The retail product will be branded: FS TRADESEAL – Sticky Back Foam Tape Key message: PEEL. STICK. SEAL. The range consists of four tape thicknesses: 3 mm / 6 mm / 9 mm / 12 mm Each thickness is available in five widths: 12 mm / 18 mm / 24 mm / 36 mm / 48 mm This creates 20 thickness and width combinations. The retail display consists of four coordinated parent cartons, one per thickness, each holding individual child dispensing cartons. Together they form one compact hardware-store shelf range. A major point of difference is that retailers can sell the product in two ways: SELL BY THE METRE – customers select the required thickness and width, pull the tape from the dispensing carton and purchase only the length they need. SELL THE FULL ROLL – customers with larger requirements can purchase the complete packaged roll. A checkout counter reference card will help store staff identify the tape thickness and width being purchased by the metre and select the correct barcode. We already have preliminary packaging concepts, product photography, product videos, dimensions, carton information, application photos and technical information. These provide a rough starting point, but the existing concepts are not final and need significant improvement. PACKAGING DIRECTION The packaging should feel: * Premium * Industrial * Trade-focused * Strong * Contemporary * Professional * Easy to understand * Appropriate for Australian hardware retail * Visually strong from several metres away * Clearly different from hobby or craft-style packaging The four thickness ranges should be easy to distinguish through coordinated colour coding while still looking like one strong product family. We welcome professional recommendations that improve the packaging, dispensing concept and overall retail presentation. The objective is strong shelf presence and clear product identification alongside leading trade products. VIDEO REQUIREMENTS The finished video will be approximately 90–120 seconds and produced primarily in vertical 9:16 format. It will initially be viewed mainly on mobile phones, so it must grab attention quickly, remain clear on a small screen and communicate the story even without sound. We are open to the freelancer recommending the most effective production method, potentially using: * CGI * 3D product animation * High-quality product rendering * Motion graphics * Supplied product footage * Product photography * Live-action elements * Compositing * Video editing We want someone who understands product marketing, retail presentation, visual storytelling and commercial communication, not simply animation software. The final result must look believable, premium and appropriate for the Australian hardware and trade market. VIDEO STORY The video needs to communicate: * What the product is * How the Peel / Stick / Seal concept works * How the closed-cell foam compresses and creates a seal * The broad range of applications * The four-thickness retail system * The five available widths * How little shelf space the range requires * How the dispensing cartons work * How customers buy by the metre * How customers buy the full roll * How store staff identify the product at checkout * Broad customer appeal * Good margin potential * Why the retailer should stock the range The product demonstration should look realistic: a hand compressing the foam, the foam recovering, peeling the release liner, applying the tape and compressing it between two substrates to form a seal. These interactions must feel physically believable. Potential applications include weather and dust sealing, cushioning, vibration dampening, irregular gaps, doors, toolboxes, machinery, agricultural equipment, building maintenance, metal separation and general household, trade and DIY uses. The video need not show every application; choose those that communicate versatility best. RETAILER-FOCUSED MESSAGING The presentation should strongly communicate: GOOD MARGIN POTENTIAL – no actual margin percentages or pricing need to be shown. BROAD CUSTOMER APPEAL – relevant to homeowners, DIY customers, tradespeople, builders, farmers, maintenance personnel and industrial users. SELL BY THE METRE – customers can purchase only the quantity they need. SELL BY THE FULL ROLL – customers with larger requirements can purchase the complete packaged roll. LOW SHELF-SPACE REQUIREMENT – the four-carton display provides a broad range of product options within a compact retail footprint. The objective is for a hardware-store owner or buyer to finish the presentation thinking: “This is a smart product range to have on my shelf.” VOICE-OVER AND ON-SCREEN COMMUNICATION The finished video will require a professional male Australian voice-over. The voice should be confident, professional, clear, natural and appropriate for the Australian hardware and trade market. The freelancer should develop the voice-over script and arrange or produce the final voice-over. The video must also work without sound, using captions, titles, product call-outs, icons and simple graphics. CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT Before full production begins, we would like approximately 2–3 initial creative/storyboard directions. These need not be fully animated. Their purpose is to agree on: * Creative direction * Visual style * Packaging treatment * Pacing * Storyboard * Narrative * Product presentation * Video flow before proceeding into full production. We want someone who contributes strong ideas. If there is a better way to communicate the retail system, dispensing concept, packaging hierarchy or video story, we are open to recommendations. WHAT WE WILL SUPPLY We can provide: * Existing product videos * Product photography * Draft carton artwork * Product dimensions * Carton dimensions * Limited application photography * Technical and product information * Physical-product references The freelancer will have meaningful source material to work from. REQUIRED DELIVERABLES The successful freelancer will be responsible for delivering: 1. Refined FS TRADESEAL retail packaging concept 2. Polished render of the individual child dispensing carton 3. Polished renders of the four parent cartons 4. Render showing the complete four-carton retail system 5. Realistic hardware-store shelf render 6. Polished checkout counter reference card concept 7. 2–3 initial creative/storyboard directions 8. Final agreed storyboard 9. Final video and voice-over script 10. Professional Australian male voice-over 11. Finished 90–120 second vertical 9:16 launch video 12. On-screen captions and key messaging 13. Final high-resolution product and packaging renders 14. All editable source/project files At this stage, we require polished packaging concepts and high-quality renders rather than production-ready packaging dielines. Please allow for three rounds of revisions. TIMELINE We are aiming to complete the project within approximately 1.5–2 weeks. Please apply only if you can complete the project to a high standard within this timeframe. BUDGET Our indicative budget is AUD $700–$1,500. Applicants should explain what they can realistically deliver within the budget and any alternative production approach that would materially improve the result. We favour intelligent use of our supplied material, with CGI, 3D animation, rendering and motion graphics where they add most value. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR We are particularly interested in freelancers or small studios with experience in: * Product launch videos * Product marketing * Packaging design * Retail packaging * Hardware or trade-product marketing * 3D product animation * CGI * Product rendering * Motion graphics * Retail shelf visualisation * Point-of-sale display design * Commercial storytelling Strong creative thinking is essential. The freelancer must understand the commercial opportunity, not simply produce attractive animation. Applicants may be located anywhere, but the visual treatment, language, pacing, voice-over and overall creative standard must feel authentic and competitive in the Australian hardware market. WHEN APPLYING Please do not submit a generic proposal or simply send a general portfolio link. Provide 2–4 genuinely relevant examples covering product launch videos, CGI/product animation, retail packaging, hardware/trade products, retail displays or realistic rendering. Briefly explain your role in each. Please also tell us: * How you would approach this project * What production method you recommend * What you believe is the strongest story for the video * How you would make the packaging stand out on an Australian hardware-store shelf * Which elements you would create using CGI versus supplied footage * Whether you see opportunities to improve the dispensing or retail-display concept * What you can realistically deliver within the proposed budget and timeframe We are open to strong creative ideas and want someone capable of taking ownership of the creative execution and turning this concept into a convincing, premium retail launch presentation.
