Mechanical Design Engineer Needed: High-Pressure CO2 Fire Extinguisher Cylinder (IS 7285 Part-1)
INR 12500–37500
About the project
I am seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to create a complete engineering design package for a 4.5 kg CO2 fire-extinguisher cylinder destined for industrial environments. The unit will store CO2 under high pressure, so the CAD models, calculations, and manufacturing drawings must accurately reflect this rigorous duty cycle.Technical Specifications Working Medium: Carbon-Dioxide (liquid/gas) Fill Capacity: 4.5 kg (sized for industrial hazard coverage) Water Capacity: 6.8 Liters Working Pressure: 150 BAR Test Pressure: 250 BAR Neck Thread: IS 3224Type-4, Size-2 Material: 37Mn Steel (throughout the pressure envelope) Heat Treatment: Normalising Design Code: IS 7285 Part-1 Expected Deliverables Fully-Parametric 3D CAD Model: Delivered in SolidWorks, Inventor, or standard STEP/IGES formats. The model must detail the head, body, base ring, and neck boss ready for the Type-4, Size-2 valve threading.2D Manufacturing Drawings: Comprehensive production drawings including dimensions, tolerances, weld call-outs, and surface-finish notes. Stress Analysis (FEA): Verification of wall thickness against burst and proof pressures in strict accordance with the IS 7285 Part-1 standard. Design Report: A concise engineering document summarizing the material grade selection, safety factors, hydrostatic test pressure calculations, and a final cylinder weight estimate. Acceptance Criteria The final submission will be considered accepted once all files open without errors, dimensions match the specifications, and the FEA results meet or exceed the IS 7285 Part-1 minimum safety margins
