About the project

I'm looking for a solar design engineer/PV engineer with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent practical experience).Experience: 2+ years of proven experience in residential, commercial, or utility-scale solar PV system design.Software Proficiency:Expertise in AutoCAD (2D drafting is required, 3D is a plus).Proficiency in solar design and simulation tools like HelioScope, PVsyst, Aurora Solar, or OpenSolar.Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical theory, PV system mechanics, structural load considerations, and NEC codes (specifically sections related to solar and storage).Certifications (Preferred but not required): NABCEP Certified PV Design Specialist or NABCEP PV Installation Professional. will be responsible for the full lifecycle of solar project design—from initial site assessment and feasibility analysis to creating comprehensive CAD layout plans and electrical schematics. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background in Photovoltaic (PV) systems, hands-on experience with solar modeling software, and proficiency in AutoCAD. You will ensure all designs are optimized for performance, cost-effective, and fully compliant with local building and electrical codes.Key ResponsibilitiesSite Assessment & Feasibility: Analyze drone data, satellite imagery, structural blueprints, and physical site measurements to evaluate roof or ground conditions, shading, and structural integrity.System Modeling & Optimization: Use industry-standard software (e.g., HelioScope, PVsyst) to simulate energy production, model shading impacts, and optimize system sizes and tilt angles.CAD Drafting & Engineering Documentation: Produce detailed 2D/3D CAD site plans, layout designs, mounting details, and electrical single-line diagrams (SLDs) for permitting, interconnection, and construction.Component Selection: Select appropriate PV modules, inverters, racking systems, and energy storage systems (BESS) based on project specs and budgets.Code Compliance & Permitting: Ensure all engineering designs adhere to the National Electrical Code (NEC), local building codes, and utility interconnection requirements.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with distributors to procure solar panels and associated hardware, sales teams, project managers, and installation crews to provide technical support and ensure smooth handoffs from design to construction.
