3D CAD Designer for Custom Golf Headcovers
AUD 30–250
About the project
I’m looking for an experienced 3D CAD / modelling designer to assist with an ongoing product development project involving custom-fit 3D printed golf iron headcovers. The main product design is already complete and has been successfully prototyped and printed. I now need someone who can take very accurate STL scans of individual golf club heads and adapt my existing headcover design to fit each club correctly. An important part of the design is a specific joining system between two different printed sections/materials. This join has already been designed and tested, so I am not looking for someone to redesign the product from scratch. I need someone capable of accurately adapting the existing design to different club head shapes and sizes while maintaining the join, wall thicknesses, tolerances and overall appearance. The ideal person will be experienced with: * Working directly with high-quality STL / mesh scan files * Mesh modelling and modifying complex organic shapes * CAD design for 3D printing * Creating accurate clearances and tolerances around scanned objects * Maintaining existing mechanical joining features while changing surrounding geometry * Fusion 360, Blender, 3ds Max, Rhino, SolidWorks or similar software * Producing clean, reliable and repeatable designs * Exporting final print-ready files and editable source files Accuracy is extremely important. The scans I provide are very detailed, so I need the finished design to follow the club geometry closely rather than using approximate measurements. This will potentially be substantial ongoing work. I am building a library covering many different golf club manufacturers, models and individual irons, and new models are released regularly. I would initially like to provide one club scan and my existing headcover design as a paid test project. If the result is accurate and the workflow works well, I would like to continue using the same designer for future clubs. Please let me know: * What software you would use for this type of work * Your experience working with STL / scanned mesh geometry * Whether you are comfortable modifying an existing design while retaining mechanical joining features * Examples of similar work * Your hourly rate or preferred price-per-club structure * Your typical turnaround time Good communication, reliability and consistency are very important as I’m looking for someone I can work with long term.
