Freelance CAD Designer Required – Three CNC-Cut Event Structures I’m seeking an experienced CAD designer to develop a complete design and production drawing package for three temporary event structures only. The structures will be manufactured from CNC-cut plywood, with mirror-finish aluminium composite material (ACM) applied to the exposed surfaces. The designs must be visually impressive for the client while remaining practical, accurate and efficient to manufacture. The project will be completed in stages: Stage 1 – Concept Development and Rendering Create clean, high-quality 3D visuals that clearly communicate: The overall form of each structure Mirror ACM finishes Scale and proportions How the individual panels intersect and connect The appearance of the completed structures within an event environment Stage 2 – Technical Documentation Once the concepts are approved, prepare: Fully dimensioned technical drawings Overall dimensions and individual component dimensions Assembly details and panel identification Connection, slot and fixing details Material thicknesses and specifications Exploded or assembly views where required Stage 3 – CNC Production Files Prepare production-ready 2D files, including: Individual CNC components Flat material layouts and sheet nests Clearly named and organised layers Cut, pocket, drill and reference geometry separated by layer Part numbers that correspond with the technical drawings Production-ready DWG and DXF files that can be imported directly into our existing workflow All 2D drafting must be completed in AutoCAD so the files remain fully editable. Fusion 360 or SolidWorks is preferred for the 3D modelling, although another suitable program may be considered if the final files are compatible with our workflow. Required Deliverables High-resolution 3D renderings suitable for client presentations Editable 3D model files Fully dimensioned technical drawings for all three structures Assembly and connection details Layered AutoCAD DWG files CNC-ready DXF files Flat material layouts, nests and cut lists Clearly identified cutting, pocketing and drilling geometry Final PDF drawing package Accuracy, buildability and efficient material use are more important than artistic complexity. Applicants should provide examples of relevant work, particularly CNC-routed plywood structures, temporary installations, exhibition displays, event builds or production-ready joinery drawings. Once the project begins, I will provide the approved measurements, material specifications, reference images, brand requirements and construction constraints. I am the company director and have approximately 25 years of experience using 2D AutoCAD and 3D Fusion. I’m therefore able to work collaboratively, provide AutoCAD templates and construction samples, and review the files from a fabrication perspective throughout the project.
