About the project

We are looking for an experienced CAD/Mechanical Engineer to update and optimize an existing set of technical 2D drawings and 3D models for a turntable chassis. The project is currently in development. You will be responsible for updating specific dimensions and converting a multi-layered plate design into a single, solid component optimized for 3D CNC milling. 1. Dimensions & Geometry: • Update the new outer dimensions to 440 mm width x 385 mm depth. • Shift and scale internal dimensions proportionally (making them slightly larger) to match the new outer dimensions. 2. Component Integration: • Add recess zones and screw holes for 3x round dampers and 2x feet (must accommodate 2 different types of footplates). • Prepare mounting/hinge attachment points for an optional dust cover. • Add specific cable routing channels and exit holes for external connections.• Integrate a standard tonarm fixed to the top plate. OPTIONAL: The structure must allow for modular upgrades (detachable arm) in future versions (v2.0 / v3.0). 3. CNC & Thermal Optimization: • Current State: Components are currently drawn as individual, stackable separate plates. • Target State: Convert the design into 1 fully integrated component made from a single solid block of material, fully optimized for 3D CNC milling. • Layer Management: This single solid component must be added to the main assembly drawing, but the independent/individual plates must remain available as separate layers/drawings within the files. OPTIONAL: Thermal Management: The bottom plate cannot be completely closed due to heat dissipation from internal components. You will need to implement smart ventilation slots or openings. Required Deliverables: • PDF: For internal review and client verification. • DWG / DXF: Updated 2D drawings with revised dimensions. • STEP (.stp): Full 3D model of the integrated solid CNC component. Project Structure & Milestones: Since we need to sync and validate these dimensions with our end-client, this project will require multiple evaluation and feedback moments. Milestones will be released progressively: • Milestone 1 (Revision 0.1): First draft of new outer/inner dimensions & spindle center. • Milestone 2 (Revision 0.2): Integration of dampers, feet, cable exits, and tonearm prep. • Milestone 3 (Final Revision 1.0): Solid CNC model, total assembly sheet, OPTIONAL : extra mile stones Freelancer Requirements • Proven CNC Enclosure Experience: You must have demonstrable experience in designing enclosures or complex components milled from a single, solid block of material (fully accounting for CNC tool reach, clearance, and minimum radiuses). • Timeline Estimation: You must provide a clear and realistic time estimation for both the first draft (Revision 0.1) and the final delivery, factoring in the required review moments. • Revision Flexibility: You must be fully aligned and comfortable with a structured workflow that includes 2 to 3 iteration/revision rounds based on feedback from our end-client.
