Description
Ares I, the crew launch rocket NASA developed for its Constellation programme before the programme was cancelled in 2010, modelled in plain white. It shows the slim, segmented solid-fuel first stage derived from the Space Shuttle booster, the wider upper stage, the fairing around the Orion capsule and the pointed launch abort tower on top.
Technical details: about 4,700 polygons and 14,000 vertices, with 9 colour materials and no image textures. The very low count suits real-time scenes, web viewers and mobile. It is scaled to 20 metres for AiZity's catalogue scale; the real rocket was designed to stand nearly 100 metres tall.
The download includes GLB for web viewers and three.js, FBX for Unity, Unreal Engine and Maya, OBJ as a widely supported mesh, and BLEND for Blender. AiZity cleaned up the original (centred, grounded and renamed the parts) and converted it to these formats.
Good for Constellation programme history, launch animations, rocket size comparisons and education slides.
