About the project
Petrel 3D Seismic Interpretation – North Sea Zechstein Salt Diapir JOB DESCRIPTION This project requires a senior Petrel seismic interpreter, exploration geophysicist or subsurface geoscientist to complete 3D seismic interpretation of the Mungo Zechstein salt diapir in the UK Central North Sea (UKCS). The core work involves Petrel 3D seismic interpretation, SEG-Y data QC, well-to-seismic ties and checkshot integration, salt tectonics, salt-diapir boundary interpretation, intra-salt reflection/stratigraphic interpretation, seismic attributes, and 3D geobody extraction. The objective is to characterize the external and internal architecture of the salt diapir and support a preliminary assessment of its suitability for underground hydrogen storage in salt caverns. This is not a generic Petrel geological modelling or reservoir simulation task. I need someone with direct hands-on experience in salt tectonics, salt domes or salt diapirs, and advanced 3D seismic interpretation. REQUIRED EXPERIENCE - Advanced 3D seismic interpretation in Petrel - SEG-Y import, survey setup and data QC - Well-to-seismic ties and checkshot integration - Salt tectonics and salt diapir interpretation - Intra-salt reflection and stratigraphic interpretation - Seismic attributes such as Chaos, Variance/Coherence and Envelope - 3D geobody extraction and volumetric/geometric analysis - Ability to explain seismic resolution and lithological interpretation uncertainties Experience with the North Sea, UKCS, Zechstein salt or underground hydrogen storage is strongly preferred. Rock physics and seismic forward modelling experience would be an advantage, but it is not mandatory for the initial interpretation stage. SCHEDULE The selected specialist must be able to: - Start promptly - Provide an initial progress update on Wednesday, 29 July 2026 - Provide weekly progress updates thereafter - Complete the project before the end of August 2026 I will provide the detailed technical requirements and background documents to shortlisted candidates. I will provide the relevant project files after I have confirmed the candidate’s experience and suitability. Successful completion may lead to long-term cooperation on future geophysics, geology and subsurface projects. PLEASE ANSWER WHEN APPLYING 1. Have you personally interpreted salt domes, salt diapirs or intra-salt structures in Petrel? Please briefly describe the project and your role. 2. Which Petrel workflows have you used for seismic attributes, well ties and geobody extraction? 3. Can you provide a relevant example or anonymized screenshot of your previous work? 4. Do you currently have access to a working Petrel environment? 5. Can you provide the first progress update on Wednesday, 29 July 2026, and complete the project before the end of August 2026? 6. Please provide one total fixed-price bid for the complete project. Do not split the price into phases or milestones. —————————— 1. Petrel seismic interpreter 2. Petrel exploration geophysicist 3.
