About the project

I'm looking for an experienced hardware/embedded engineer to build a first working prototype of a wearable sensor vest for athlete movement and heart rate monitoring. Scope: Sensor 1: GPS + 9-axis IMU (accelerometer, gyroscope, magnetometer) — for speed, distance, direction, and position tracking Sensor 2: Heart rate sensing — open to your recommendation on approach (optical/PPG vs. ECG) for a first prototype, given the vest will be used during physical activity/sport Data transmission: BLE to a nearby tablet/laptop Physical form: lightweight vest/garment insert, worn on the back, under 150g target, minimum 3-4 hour battery life, sweat-resistant What I need from you: Schematic + PCB design Firmware for both sensor sets A basic enclosure (3D printed is fine for this stage) A working, testable prototype — does not need to be manufacturing-ready Please include in your proposal: Your relevant experience with wearable/sensor hardware (portfolio examples welcome) Your recommended approach for heart rate sensing, and why Itemized estimate: hours and cost for hardware design, firmware, and enclosure separately Realistic timeline I'm open to a phased approach (e.g. a smaller validation stage before full build) if you think that reduces risk — happy to hear your recommendation.
