VT/NH Residential Structural Engineer
USD 3000–5000
About the project
I need a licensed structural engineer who can give equal attention to two intertwined tasks on my home: confirming whether an interior wall can be safely removed and designing a roof-raise that will turn the current knee-wall attic space into a full-height second floor. Because I do not have existing drawings, the engagement will start with an on-site inspection, accurate field measurements, and load tracing for both the wall and the roof system. The end goal is a stamped set of calculations and drawings suitable for local permit submission in Vermont, plus any practical guidance I’ll need during construction. Familiarity with residential framing, regional snow loads, and current VTbuilding codes is essential, and I expect the structural analysis to be produced in the software you normally use (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, RISA-3D, SAP2000 or similar). Payment can be negotiated as hourly or fixed once the scope is confirmed. When you reply, please include past work that shows comparable residential alterations you have engineered; I will use that to shortlist candidates for a quick phone consultation and a site visit schedule. Local presence is mandatory so you can inspect the structure, verify as-built conditions, and provide ongoing support during construction.
