DesignBuilder Specialist for Energy Model Modification

Software: DesignBuilder / EnergyPlus Engagement: Freelance, remote, project-based Project Overview We are seeking an experienced DesignBuilder software specialist to assist with modifications to an existing building energy model for a four-unit multifamily residential project in Brooklyn, NY. The building has already been fully designed and engineered, and an existing DesignBuilder (.dsb) model has been developed. We are looking for someone with strong, hands-on experience navigating the DesignBuilder software environment, updating modeling inputs, and running simulations. This is not an engineering or building design assignment. We do not require a new energy model or HVAC system redesign. All relevant architectural, mechanical, plumbing, and equipment specifications will be provided. Scope of Work Review and modify the existing DesignBuilder .dsb model, importing/referencing a REVIT 3D project model. Update HVAC equipment specifications, including all-in-one heat pump systems and supplemental electric heating. Adjust domestic hot water equipment and associated modeling parameters. Correct fuel-source assumptions and other identified input discrepancies. Update utility tariffs and energy-cost modeling inputs. Run updated Proposed and Baseline EnergyPlus simulations in accordance with the existing ASHRAE 90.1-2016 Appendix G modeling framework. Export updated simulation reports and return the revised .dsb file. A list of required modifications and supporting engineering documentation will be provided by our team. Required Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency with DesignBuilder software and EnergyPlus. Experience modifying existing .dsb models, rather than only creating new models. Ability to update HVAC systems, equipment performance parameters, utility tariffs, and simulation settings. Familiarity with ASHRAE 90.1 Appendix G modeling workflows. Ability to troubleshoot simulation errors and discrepancies. Deliverables Updated, functioning DesignBuilder .dsb file. Revised Proposed and Baseline simulation outputs. Brief summary of modifications and any outstanding modeling issues. How to Apply Please provide: A brief description of your hands-on DesignBuilder experience. Priority will be given to candidates with direct DesignBuilder software experience rather than general energy engineering or consulting backgrounds.
