Description
The Apollo and Soyuz spacecraft joined in orbit, as on the Apollo-Soyuz Test Project of July 1975, the first crewed docking between American and Soviet craft. The white Apollo command and service module, with its engine bell, yellow thruster quads and United States marking, connects through a grey docking module to the pale green Soyuz with its CCCP lettering and a solar panel.
Technical details: about 33,000 polygons and 17,000 vertices, UV-mapped, with 18 materials and 5 texture maps. The count is light enough for real-time and web use. It is scaled to 10 metres for AiZity's catalogue scale.
The download includes GLB for web viewers and three.js, FBX for Unity, Unreal Engine and Maya, OBJ as a widely supported mesh, and BLEND for Blender. Textures come in a separate folder. AiZity cleaned up the original (centred, grounded and renamed the parts) and converted it to these formats.
Good for Cold War space history lessons, docking animations, museum displays and space-race documentaries.
License: Public domain, made by NASA/Michael D. Carbajal (a U.S. government work). Free for personal and commercial use; please credit NASA. NASA logos and insignia are not included, and use must not suggest NASA endorsement.
