Cluster II Magnetosphere Spacecraft 3D Model

One of the four identical Cluster spacecraft, an ESA mission run with NASA, launched in 2000, that flies in formation to study Earth's magnetic environment and its interaction with the solar wind in three dimensions. The model shows the short drum-shaped body, gold on top with dark sides, and long thin booms.

Technical details: about 9,000 polygons and 7,900 vertices, UV-mapped, with 4 materials and 3 texture maps. That is light enough for real-time, web and mobile use. It is scaled to 5 metres across its long booms, so the body is small, and the viewer opens close on the body.

The download includes GLB for web viewers and three.js, FBX for Unity, Unreal Engine and Maya, OBJ as a widely supported mesh, and BLEND for Blender. Textures come in a separate folder. AiZity cleaned up the original (centred, grounded and renamed the parts) and converted it to these formats.

Good for magnetosphere lessons, formation-flying animations, solar wind explainers and ESA mission presentations.
