Included formats
GLBFBXOBJBlender
Description
One of the four identical Cluster spacecraft, a European Space Agency mission with NASA participation that investigates Earth's magnetic environment and its interaction with the solar wind in three dimensions. The model shows the drum-shaped body covered in solar cells, the pale yellow top deck with its central ring, two hinged radial booms tipped with sensors, and spike-shaped masts above and below.
Technical details: about 12,000 polygons and 37,000 vertices, with 20 colour materials and no image textures. The low count suits real-time scenes and web viewers. It is scaled to 5 metres for AiZity's catalogue scale; the real spacecraft is about 2.9 metres across.
The download includes GLB for web viewers and three.js, FBX for Unity, Unreal Engine and Maya, OBJ as a widely supported mesh, and BLEND for Blender. AiZity cleaned up the original (centred, grounded and renamed the parts) and converted it to these formats.
Good for space weather and magnetosphere lessons, formation-flying animations, solar wind explainers and science outreach displays.
License: Public domain, made by NASA/Christopher R. Meaney (a U.S. government work). Free for personal and commercial use; please credit NASA. NASA logos and insignia are not included, and use must not suggest NASA endorsement.
