Description
A detailed model of the Voyager space probe, the design shared by Voyager 1 and Voyager 2, launched in 1977 and now in interstellar space. It shows the large white high-gain antenna, the ten-sided bus wrapped in gold foil, the science boom with its cameras, the boom carrying the nuclear power sources, and two long radio antennas.
Technical details: about 30,000 polygons and 90,000 vertices, with 16 colour materials and no image textures. That is light enough for real-time and web use. The model is scaled to 5 metres for AiZity's catalogue scale; the real high-gain antenna alone is 3.7 metres across.
The download includes GLB for web viewers and three.js, FBX for Unity, Unreal Engine and Maya, OBJ as a widely supported mesh, and BLEND for Blender. AiZity cleaned up the original (centred, grounded and renamed the parts) and converted it to these formats.
Good for astronomy lessons, space history explainers, documentary graphics and deep-space scenes.
License: Public domain, made by NASA/Christopher R. Meaney (a U.S. government work). Free for personal and commercial use; please credit NASA. NASA logos and insignia are not included, and use must not suggest NASA endorsement.
