About the project

Project: Wearable 3D Printable Helmet – IGNIS I am looking for an experienced 3D artist / hard-surface modeler to create a professional, wearable, modular, FDM 3D-printable helmet based on the provided reference images. IMPORTANT: The helmet must remain visually faithful to the approved references. Please do NOT redesign, simplify, or stylistically reinterpret it. Reasonable technical modifications are allowed when necessary for human head fit, comfort, structural strength, ventilation, assembly, tolerances, padding space, magnet placement, and FDM printing. Hidden/internal geometry may be modified freely when necessary, but any noticeable external change must be discussed with me before proceeding. REFERENCE PRIORITY: 1. Approved front view – PRIMARY reference 2. Right-side profile 3. Rear view 4. 3/4 view 5. Original character concept art If references contradict each other, please ask before making major visible changes. WEARABLE DESIGN The helmet must be genuinely wearable by an adult, with realistic internal clearance and space for basic padding. It must NOT be designed as a sealed shell that requires forcing the head through a small neck opening. A practical opening/access system is required, such as: - Removable rear section - Hinged rear section - Removable lower section - Magnetic panels - Hidden mechanical clips/latches - Another practical solution proposed by the designer The system should be strong enough for repeated use, easy to open/close, visually discreet, and securely closed while being worn. Please avoid bulky visible hinges whenever possible. The helmet should remain scalable without destroying the assembly system. MAIN HELMET SHELL The black helmet shell should function as the structural base. Major differently colored elements should be separate printable parts whenever practical so they can be printed using different filament colors instead of requiring extensive masking/painting. GOLD FRONT V-CREST The large gold V-shaped front crest must be a completely separate printable component. It must include locating/alignment pins, with matching sockets in the helmet. The goal is to print the V separately and glue it accurately afterward. Please preserve the original silhouette, angle and proportions. Minor thickness changes are acceptable for strength or printability. BLUE EYE / VISOR SYSTEM The blue eye/visor must be a separate removable assembly and NOT permanently integrated into the helmet. It should attach using small neodymium magnets. Please include: - Magnet sockets in the visor - Matching magnet sockets in the helmet - Proper alignment features - Realistic printing tolerances I need THREE interchangeable visor versions: A. Main visor - Primary design shown in the references - Removable using magnets B. Alternate visor 1 - Same overall external shape and mounting system - Solid/non-perforated C. Alternate visor 2 - Same overall external shape and mounting system - perforated All three must use exactly the same mounting geometry so they can easily be swapped. SEPARATE COLOR PARTS Whenever practical, please separate major visible colored components, including: - Gold V crest - Green forehead gem - White jaw/face armor - Red side details - White side/ear armor - Gold side details - Other major accent pieces Use locating pins, sockets, tabs, keyed joints or another reliable alignment method. Please avoid relying only on flat surface-to-surface gluing when an alignment feature can improve accuracy. FOREHEAD GEM The green forehead gem must be a separate printable part with a dedicated socket in the helmet or V-crest assembly. Preserve its position, shape and proportions from the primary front reference. SIDE / EAR MODULES The circular side modules should preferably be separate multi-part assemblies. White, gold, red and black components should be separated where useful for printing, finishing and assembly. The design should remain symmetrical unless the reference specifically shows asymmetry. PRINTABILITY / ENGINEERING The complete helmet must be optimized for real-world consumer FDM printing. Please design suitable: - Wall thicknesses - Clearances - Assembly tolerances - Alignment pins - Registration points - Magnet sockets - Connection points - Glue surfaces - Structural reinforcement where required Avoid unnecessarily thin walls or extremely tiny fragile decorative parts. Structural changes may be made internally if they improve strength or printing without significantly changing the external appearance. HELMET PART SEPARATION If the helmet is too large for a standard consumer FDM printer, divide the shell into logical printable sections. Whenever possible, place seams: - Along existing panel lines - In hidden locations - Where post-processing will be easier Shell sections should include alignment keys/pins/sockets so assembly remains precise. The goal is to minimize visible seams. VENTILATION The wearable helmet must include functional ventilation. Please integrate discreet: - Air intake openings - Air exhaust openings - Internal airflow paths where practical Ventilation should preferably be hidden within existing panel gaps, rear areas, side modules or other natural design features. Avoid large obvious holes on highly visible surfaces. Please also leave reasonable internal room for possible future upgrades: - Small 5V fans - Wiring - Small battery pack - LEDs - Additional padding If practical, please recommend suitable internal fan locations. DESIGN CONSISTENCY All views must represent THE SAME helmet. The proportions of these areas must remain consistent: - Helmet dome - Gold V crest - Forehead gem - Eye/visor shape - White jaw armor - Side modules - Overall width - Overall height - Profile/depth The finished model should look correct from front, side, rear and 3/4 angles. Minor proportional adjustments are acceptable only when required for: - Human head fit - Comfort - Internal clearance - Strength - Ventilation - Assembly - FDM printing Any major visible change requires approval first. FUNCTIONAL GOAL The final result must work as a real wearable prop, not only as a visually accurate 3D model. It should be possible to: - Put it on/remove it easily - Wear it securely - Ventilate it - Disassemble it - Repair or upgrade individual components - Reprint replacement parts - Assemble it consistently using designed pins, keys, sockets and magnets Appearance and engineering are equally important. The external design should remain as faithful as reasonably possible to the approved IGNIS references, while the hidden/internal structure may be adapted for practical use. DELIVERABLES Please provide: - Print-ready STL files - Individual STL files for every separate component - STEP files if possible - Original editable/source file - Assembly/exploded-view reference - Simple assembly instructions - Recommended magnet dimensions - Recommended tolerances - Recommended printing orientations for major components Please organize and clearly name all files and parts. APPROVAL PROCESS Before completing the detailed final model, I want to review an early preview showing: - Basic helmet geometry - Overall proportions - Head fit / internal volume - Part separation - Visor mounting system - Opening/access mechanism - Major colored components Please do not complete the entire detailed model before this approval stage. If significant changes to the external design are necessary for engineering or wearability, show them to me for approval first. OWNERSHIP / USAGE This model is being commissioned specifically for this project. The finished 3D files must NOT be uploaded, resold, redistributed, shared, or published on CGTrader, Freelancer, or any other marketplace/platform without my permission. The objective is a professional wearable modular helmet that can realistically be printed, assembled, worn, ventilated, maintained, upgraded and reproduced reliably.
