Description

The Z-2, a NASA prototype spacesuit built to test designs for astronauts exploring planetary surfaces. The model shows the white segmented suit with a dark-visored helmet, a US flag and a round patch on the shoulders, a large rear hatch, blue rings above black boots and a dusty, weathered finish.

Technical details: about 31,000 polygons and 51,000 vertices, UV-mapped, with 1 material and 3 texture maps. It is light enough for real-time and web use. It is scaled to 1.8 metres for AiZity's catalogue scale.

The download includes GLB for web viewers and three.js, FBX for Unity, Unreal Engine and Maya, OBJ as a widely supported mesh, and BLEND for Blender. Textures come in a separate folder. AiZity cleaned up the original (centred, grounded and renamed the parts) and converted it to these formats.

Good for astronaut characters, Moon and Mars exploration animations, spacesuit design lessons and museum displays.

License: Public domain, made by NASA/LaRC/Advanced Concepts Lab (a U.S. government work). Free for personal and commercial use; please credit NASA. NASA logos and insignia are not included, and use must not suggest NASA endorsement. The suit carries a mission patch, so this model is marked for editorial use.
